Don't Eat Pete Spring Edition

This is a holiday version of the classic Don't Eat Pete game.  If you've never played here's a quick how to:  Print off the board game...cardstock works best.  Place one piece of candy (m&m's, Cheerios, or whatever you have) on each of the little birds.  Send one person to out of the room and quietly decided which of the birds is going to be Pete for that round.  Lets say you pick the one in the center.  Have the person come back into the room and eat one of the pieces of candy off each bird UNTIL they pick up the one chosen as Pete (in this case the one in the center).  When they pick up this candy everyone yells "Don't eat Pete!" and their turn ends.  Add candy to the ones taken on the last turn and play as many times as you want picking a new Pete each time.

I make one in color so its already to go or you can print the black and white one and color it yourself.  Its a fun activity for your kids.  Mine loved coloring their own, especially with the cute little patterns on each one.

8 adorable St. Patrick's Day activities for kids

Here are a few adorable St. Patrick's day Crafts and activities.  Some of these were originally posted on my old preschool blog that we did a few years ago and others are a little newer.

A little Leprechaun

and another one!

Hunt for hidden clovers

Make green rice crispy treats-Just add green food coloring

Hand print shamrocks (idea found here)

I traced around her fist 4 times and cut them out. I also cut a little stem out. She then glued it together to make a clover.

Painted Hand print Leprechaun (idea found here)

These were a lot of fun! I painted her wrist green for the hat and her hand orange for the beard.

She then made her print on card stock. With the extra paint still on her hand she made a cool picture. She loved it so much she insisted on having a leprechaun with a blue beard and a pink hat.

After it dried she glued on the face, drew a rainbow, and added clouds.

Leprechaun Faces (idea found here)

We painted the outside of the paper plate (face down) orange for a beard.

After it dried she cut slits. I cut out the hat, eyes, and mouth. She glued it all together.

You can also find a cute treasure hunt on this post (there are blank shamrocks at the end of the download for you to use).

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Recipe Binder Printables

I've been organizing like crazy over here.  One thing that really wasn't functioning was my recipe binders. It was a bunch of printouts scattered though two binders (most just shoved in there not even attached).  It was impossible to find anything.  I spend a few hours sorting my recipes, tossing duplicates and ones we never use, and then hole punched the ones I wanted to keep.  I decided to still store them in my binders but they now have sections and easy to find.  If you recipes that could use a little love too grab a copy of my binder and section covers below.  I put these covers in sheet protectors and the recipes are just hole punched.

St. Patrick's Day Activity Days

Update: I now have a new St. Patrick's day treasure hunt for activity days.  You can find it here.

Here's a cute and fun activity that fits in perfectly with St. Patrick's day.  We covered the Faith in God requirements and worked on the Articles of Faith.

Snack
St. Patty's day brownie bites (I bought mine from Walmart) and green grapes

Activities
Faith in God Treasure hunt.
This activity was inspired by this cute post.

I hid clues and puzzle pieces around the church. I hid one of each in the same area but in different spots.  We have 14 girls so I wanted to give more of them a chance to find something.

I started with something like...Lucky you we are going on a treasure hunt today.  We are looking for a very special treasure so first you need a few instructions: follow the clues, stay together, remember you are in the church so please do not run, take turns,  and in addition to the clue there will be a puzzle piece please collect them and  please don't loose them.
Their treasure.  We put the puzzle together before I passed out the treats.  They ate them as we went over the requirements.  We have a lot of new girls and it was a great reminder for the girls that have been in for a while.

Here's the handout:  Copy and paste in a word document and size. I kept mine at 4x4 but they are a little too big for my bags but easy to read.
You can download my puzzle and clues.  I'm not very creative in this department so I included blank ones too.

I also introduced our Faith in God Challenge cards.  I found the idea on Little LDS ideas. We used one of her card this month

Articles of Faith Basketball
idea found here.  Don't forget your green bucket.  We divided into 3 teams and I brought 3 different colors of paper we reused.  The girls LOVED it!

I Introduced our Articles of Faith Ice Cream Challenge.  Idea from here.  I brought a little box with punch cards, articles of faith prints, and a hole punch.  We will use this too keep track of the one they pass off and have our party in June.

Left over time played Don't eat Pete.  found here.  Don't forget to use Lucky Charms!

I wasn't sure how this activity would go but the girls had so much fun and asked if we could do it again next week.  The biggest reward was to see them trying to pass off Articles of Faith and being excited for their 2 new challenges.

You can find some of our other Activity Day ideas here including my Faith in God workbook for the girls.

March Visiting Teaching Handouts and 8x10 print

I loved this month's beautiful message on the enabling power of our Savior and his atonement.  You can find the full message here.
This is one of the times I just couldn't pick one quote.  So I have a few different options for you.

To use: Right click on the picture to save to your computer and print at home or send to your favorite place (these are size as a 4x6 image).  Or my favorite way is to copy and paste into a word document and size to fit 3 or 4 on a page. If you need some help with this please let me know and I can email you the original images or word document.

2 options for this quote

I loved this one so much I also made it as an  8x10 if you would like to print and frame.

Cat in the Hat headbands

Did you know I host a "Pinterest Challenge" every week on my facebook page?  We are just starting out so its pretty small but I would love for you to join us!

This week for my project I used Repeat Crafter me's adorable Cat in the Hat headband pattern.  She has some of the best on her site and they are all free.  Seriously she is my go to when I'm looking for something.

For some reason I thought it would be a good idea to show my girls this pattern and they quickly asked for one for Cat in the Hat day.  Oh perfect it won't be to hard and it wasn't. However, not my best idea to start at 9 the night before.  Their happy faces make it worth it.
