27 Fun and Quirky Holidays to Celebrate with your Kids in August




Summer is almost over and school is just around the corner.  It feels a little weird this year not really going back to school but we are excited for our new adventure in homeschooling and online learning. One thing my kids have really loved during this months of being home is our holiday calendar.  They really love checking the calendar to find out what holiday falls on that day. We don't celebrate all of the holidays and the ones we do are very simple.  Its a fun and easy way to makes some sweet memories with my kids and encourage some creativity.  For the month of August I found 27 fun and unique holidays to celebrate. Come Follow Me lesson Helps: Alma 39-42 ( July 27-August 2)

Hello and thank you for stopping by :)  I am excited to share these fun and free Come Follow Me lesson helps that are perfect for families and primary.  We are covering Alma 39-42 and will be discussing being an example, how repentance brings happiness, and a little about the Plan of Salvation.  You will find the free download at the end of this post and if you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

Free Animal Alphabet Mini Tracing Book

I am so excited to share this new freebie with you!  This FREE alphabet mini book can be used in so many different ways.  This is perfect for toddlers, preschool and kindergartners in a school or homeschool setting.


Here are a few ideas:
1. Print and staple to create a mini book for each student.  Children can rainbow write the letters and trace the word.
2. Print and laminate.  Hole punch the top and add a ring to create a book that can be read over and over.  Your children will love the beautiful pictures.
3. Print and laminate.  *optional: Hole punch and add ring to create book.  Use dry erase markers to trace letters and words. 
4. Print and laminate.  Use pom-poms, glass gems, or favorite manipulative to fill letters.  Use dry erase markers to trace word.
5. Print and laminate.  Use as a play-dough mat.  Use play-dough to build the letter.  Trace word with dry erase marker.  Let children use play-dough to make the animal.

Come Follow Me: Free Lesson helps for Alma 36-38 (July 20-26)

Good morning!  I hope you are having a wonderful Sunday.  This week I have some fun and free Come Follow Me lesson helps for Alma 36-38.  These are perfect for families and primary classes.  We are going to talk about doing "the small & Simple things" and how the scriptures can help us in our daily lives.  Here's what's included:
This game goes along with the story about the pioneers and the crickets. We will be helping the seagulls catch the crickets as we learn about doing the small and simple things help us as we encounter new situations or trials in our life.  A lot of fun and perfect to tie in pioneer day with this week's lesson.
Some cute puppets to help you tell the story.
Scripture and journal/coloring page. I plan to ask the question, discuss and read the scripture, then let them write the answer and color the picture.
A cute mini book with space to write or draw what we learn from these scripture stories.  There are blank pages included so they can write about their favorite stories, write their favorite scripture, or even how the scriptures have helped them in their lives.

Come Follow Me Lesson Helps: Alma 32-35 (July 13-19)

Hello and Happy Sunday.  I hope you have all had a wonderful week.  Today I have some really fun Come follow Me lesson helps for Alma 32-35.  We are going to discuss faith and how faith is like a seed.  We are also going to talk about the importance of prayer and that we can pray anywhere and Heavenly Father will always hear us.  Instructions and links for activities are included in the download.These Come Follow Me activities are perfect for families and primary classes.  Here's a look at what's included in the free download.

Your kids will love this fun journal/coloring page where they can write and draw ways to build their testimony and things they believe.
We are going to create a cute mini book that shows a few places we can pray.
We are going learn the first verse of the song "Faith."  There are some cute visuals to help remember the words.
and a fun activity to test their knowledge :) 
This last activity is a fun visual that goes along with a story from Elder Uchtdorf.  He teaches us more about testimonies and seeds.

25 Fun and Quirky Holidays to Celebrate in July

I know I am a few days late getting this posted but hopefully you will still find some fun holidays to celebrate this month.  My kids love these calendars even if it is just to see what holiday lands on a certain day.  We do not celebrate all of these holidays and when we do we keep it simple. I'd love to hear what holidays you plan to celebrate and some of your ideas for celebrations :)
