Hello, I hope you are having a wonderful weekend. We are in the middle of tax season (meaning my husband works all the time) and my 2 year has a stomach bug. So life is a little crazy over here :) But I am so excited to share these lesson helps with you! We are covering 2 Nephi 31-33 this week. These ideas are perfect for families or primary classes. This week I went with the topics found in the <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-primary-book-of-mormon-2020/10?lang=eng">primary manual</a>. I have found this helps my kids prepare for their upcoming primary lesson and helps them participate a little more.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is also a great week to review the 4th Article of faith. Point out that these steps are very similar to the ones mentioned in 2 Nephi. The first activity is a number puzzle. You will need to cut out the green number 4 along the black lines. Then you can use the next page to build your puzzle. Each pieces has a picture that correlates to the 4 steps.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This activity has the same pictures but it can be used with playdough. You will want to laminate or place in a sheet protector. You can use the playdough to create the number 4. Then Make balls of playdough and place on each circle. As you say the Article of Faith you will smash the ball as you get to each matching picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week we are also talking about baptism. It is one of the steps above :) I included a journal page where the kids can write some of their memories about their own baptism.</div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVo7TV6LOMHjp6B1POV9fBBfP1pOnDPTKa3PwY-JObR9mZPzrfIZecj92bUvvnY_Y7iBZVgUaUb2aNA1IF9gAjnz-zwjIERmML1nTZuYz29KT2Q4GXq0N3i_3n1ClL-aVOmrKN2ZphsXR5/s1600/My+Album+144-004.jpg"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVo7TV6LOMHjp6B1POV9fBBfP1pOnDPTKa3PwY-JObR9mZPzrfIZecj92bUvvnY_Y7iBZVgUaUb2aNA1IF9gAjnz-zwjIERmML1nTZuYz29KT2Q4GXq0N3i_3n1ClL-aVOmrKN2ZphsXR5/s320/My+Album+144-004.jpg" width="400" /></a><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
and a coloring page option. In the blank space they can draw a picture of themselves on their baptism day. For the little ones they can draw a way they are preparing or what they imagine their baptism day will be like.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

In 2 Nephi 32:3 talks about feasting upon the words of Christ. I don't know about your kids but mine are super picky unless there is pizza involved. Suddenly they are starving. My plan is to make pizza with my kids and then do this activity. We'll talk about what it means to feast and compare that to feasting on the scriptures. Then we'll use this activity to discuss some of the things we can learn about when we feast on the words of Christ. To prepare print the page below and the page of pepperoni. Cut out the pepperoni and tape on the circles. To use take turns pulling off a pepperoni, identify the picture, and share something you have learned about that topic studying the scriptures.<br />
(*pictures include: temple, sacrament, prayer, commandments, Holy Ghost, Savior's example, repentance, and kindness/love one another)<br />

That's all I have for this week. I did want to mention that there are so many topics in this week's lesson that we have already covered. Use the search bar and it will take you to some of the past lessons. I know there are several on the Holy Ghost, baptism, and the sacrament. As always thank you for stopping by and let me know if you have any questions.<br />

Line upon line puzzles. Hide the puzzle pieces and give a clue to find each one. Discuss how you would put the puzzle together one piece at a time instead of trying to do it all at the same time.<br />

You can also teach this by making a dessert. Do not tell them the finished treat but give one ingredient at a time. For both activities compare this to how Heavenly father gives us a piece at a time and how it works to give us a full picture (or treat :) )<br />

Every day there is something new. I love that these calendars provide a jumping-off point for fun conversations and memories. My kids love picking new holidays to celebrate and being part of the planning. We don't celebrate all of these holidays but we do have fun checking our calendar daily to see what unique holiday lands on that day. You can find the free download below and I'd love to hear how your family celebrates or your favorite March holiday.<p></p><p><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oP0ShmKLJf-IQ-wLLPxOO9oLW48tHDvZ/view?usp=sharing"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Download Here</span></a></p>Crystalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06553764890755083117noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6751081149493705137.post-36066915015046056792024-02-26T08:17:00.000-08:002024-02-26T08:17:25.973-08:00Come Follow Me: 2 Nephi 11-25 <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">*Originally posted in 2020</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> This week we are covering the Isaiah chapters and decided to stick pretty close to the primary manual. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a class="scripture-ref" href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/12.2-3?lang=eng#p2" style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: "Ensign:Sans", Zoram, "Zoram ldsLat", Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14.004px; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; font-weight: 700; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-align: left; text-decoration-line: none; vertical-align: baseline;">2 Nephi 12:2–3</a>: Temples</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
First I made a couple of temple prints that you can display throughout the week. I'm going to print or 2 and frame.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaaFliDW93L30ZE6VZeeW8gf9pTDgYcty40VzBZ2_V28DvHvOzAx9Jw_8MsrXLYhGYUGfKilSSmjD6X0bXync_e1TPZuEmyrRTQqAefA0_CazMSFErETFG7AZcGEucI525-lwMMd0myB7j/s1600/My+Album+144-004.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaaFliDW93L30ZE6VZeeW8gf9pTDgYcty40VzBZ2_V28DvHvOzAx9Jw_8MsrXLYhGYUGfKilSSmjD6X0bXync_e1TPZuEmyrRTQqAefA0_CazMSFErETFG7AZcGEucI525-lwMMd0myB7j/s400/My+Album+144-004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This next idea goes along with the 2nd idea under teaching young children. It says to make a path along the floor that leads to a picture of the temple. Then talk about the phrase "walk in his path." This reminded me of our jumbo board game we played for fhe a while back so I adapted it to fit this theme.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHgCVnBSDk0SYqnvpPVu3ms0J4h0mtIf8um0jotFKVWGEI0BWPP_3w86lDTIQ3Klo_5Jey8iM93923fnG6Wqzo-pjWtWbWI7VIpFqvRA2eRxR2FnFOZRjPdhv08t5P1fDnIRjje1UHCw5n/s1600/My+Album+144-005.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjHgCVnBSDk0SYqnvpPVu3ms0J4h0mtIf8um0jotFKVWGEI0BWPP_3w86lDTIQ3Klo_5Jey8iM93923fnG6Wqzo-pjWtWbWI7VIpFqvRA2eRxR2FnFOZRjPdhv08t5P1fDnIRjje1UHCw5n/s400/My+Album+144-005.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'll try and get some pictures of it in action to help you out but this is our old game we played and it will look very similar. The first page in the download has blank squares-these are your fillers and print a few of these on colored paper. Next is the action cards-print and cut. Finally are the hearts (this go with the coloring page lesson in the manual-I thought it would be great to tie the two activities together). Once everything is printed and cut out you are going to lay them in a path mixed up. There really isn't an order. Place your temple picture at the end. Roll a dice and if they last on a blank spot they don't have to do anything. If they land on an action card then the action is performed (if you have some shy kids maybe the whole family or class can do the action together), if they land on a heart read and discuss.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaWc_RurdLw-BCUVqkcol7mIIFl0dNzD9nnv-01ZOtzwdWtnV3RdDKL1akeNAwq3G6tRKSN0d20plYuutMVAecX3MbEC1OG4EEpNSyWmOp2UTPcK9vBRKDKIpOuKTkFPO_eAaE6LB1XDcC/s400/20180806_203349.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="400" data-original-width="225" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaWc_RurdLw-BCUVqkcol7mIIFl0dNzD9nnv-01ZOtzwdWtnV3RdDKL1akeNAwq3G6tRKSN0d20plYuutMVAecX3MbEC1OG4EEpNSyWmOp2UTPcK9vBRKDKIpOuKTkFPO_eAaE6LB1XDcC/s400/20180806_203349.jpg" width="225" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also made some temple boxes (I'll get a picture posted asap). You are going to print (cardstock recommended) and then cut along the outer lines and around the top of the temple. you are going to fold and tape to create a little box with an opening on the top. You can have them fill it with strips of paper on ways they can prepare for the temple or blessings that come from the temple, or a treat :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also have posted other temple related activities in the past that would work great for this lesson.</div>
<a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/2019/08/come-follow-me-1-corinthians-14-16.html">This pos</a>t is packed with ideas to go with the temple theme-it includes a coloring and journal page, bingo game, and links to stories and activities.<br />

They can color, cut, and then staple to make their little book. Or if you want to save some time or have little kids leave it as is and it makes for a fun coloring page.</span></span></div>

<b>UPDATE: I fixed the card that says fox-it's suppose to say wolf and it's a picture of a wolf! Not sure why I wrote fox. The image below is wrong but the download is correct. Thanks for letting me know :) </b><br />
Final idea-animal match game that goes with <span face=""ensign:serif" , "mckay" , "mckay ldslat" , "palatino" , "palatino linotype" , , serif" style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; color: black; font-stretch: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; vertical-align: baseline;"><a class="scripture-ref" href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/scriptures/bofm/2-ne/21.6-7?lang=eng#p6" style="background-color: white; border: 0px; box-sizing: border-box; font-family: "Ensign:Serif", McKay, "McKay ldsLat", Palatino, "Palatino Linotype", Palatino-Roman, serif; font-stretch: inherit; font-variant-east-asian: inherit; font-variant-numeric: inherit; line-height: inherit; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; text-decoration-line: none; vertical-align: baseline;">2 Nephi 21:6–7</a>. (print 2 sets on cardstock and cut) As you read these verses you can show them an image of the animal. talk about some of the differences between them and then how they will treat each other during the millennium. I love the question in the manual that asks "</span><span face=""ensign:serif" , "mckay" , "mckay ldslat" , "palatino" , "palatino linotype" , , serif" style="background-color: white; color: #0d0f10;">How can we follow the example of these animals in the way we treat each other?" After your discussion you can use these animal cards to play a match game. </span><br />

It is called Holes and I was able to find a copy of it <a href="http://marcusandbrittany.blogspot.com/2010/03/poem.html">here.</a> It's so beautiful and worth the read.</div><div><br /></div>*Originally posted in 2020<div><br />
This week for Come Follow Me we are covering 2 Nephi 6-10. I am actually following <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-primary-book-of-mormon-2020/07?lang=eng">the primary manual</a> topics pretty closely this week. I learned so much this week and one strong feeling I had over and over as I read and studied is how much the Savior loves us. He volunteered to come down and suffer and die for us. He didn't have to but he chose to.<br />
<br />
These story cards go with the very first idea in the manual. Its a about a person who falls into a pit and how someone helps him. Its a great way to help the children understand how Jesus saves us from death and sin. You will need to use the picture with the pit and Jesus twice. (Also forgive my clipart of the pit-umm I know it's actually a hole with grass but hopefully it gets the job done :)<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next suggestion was to sing a song about the Savior's love and then draw pictures of things that help them know the Savior loves them. I have two options for you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The first is this heart mini book. This is the cover and then there is a blank heart where they can draw their pictures. Print as many blank ones as you want to create the book. Cut out the hearts and staple along one edge. Another option if you don't want to make a book is to use this page to color or decorate.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Another option is this adorable journal page. They can write or draw their answer in the box.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUdvu1h6bBmZLZN8EjlKoJPThB_aq49mA3lGBT-02BwE0midD5GD9AbhTEt_67CbSv0C2AbYXkKgo5BvfSJVUdtGUwpqeeZhbGvkobTRmNCeMgcwmceFNhsUlxsejRByIRJ06hpT_a4aq0/s1600/My+Album+144-003.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUdvu1h6bBmZLZN8EjlKoJPThB_aq49mA3lGBT-02BwE0midD5GD9AbhTEt_67CbSv0C2AbYXkKgo5BvfSJVUdtGUwpqeeZhbGvkobTRmNCeMgcwmceFNhsUlxsejRByIRJ06hpT_a4aq0/s400/My+Album+144-003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another more hands on option that is great for discussions are these adorable match games. With Valentine's day this week I thought it might be fun to include a themed activity. The idea is to play like a regular match game but when a person finds a match they share a way they know the Savior loves them OR a reason the love him. There are 2 different games included. You only need one of the boards and print two of that board. The first one is a full blown Valentine's theme (I had a lot of adorable clipart and wanted to use it) the 2nd is just hearts. Pick the one that works best for you :)</div>

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In 2 Nephi 9:49 Jacob talks about something he loves and hates. This is a fun intro activity to this verse. There are 12 things that you are going to ask the kids if they like (page with the pizza, frog, etc). You can print this page and cut the pieces out to use as a visual. Show one of the cards and if they like it they can give you a thumbs up or if they don't like it a thumbs down. Go through the cards and then talk about Jacob and the thing he loves (righteousness) and the thing he hates (sin). A few extra options I included are printable thumbs that you can print and give to each person to use. I also included a recording page where they can sort their answer to the page. *The cards are a little big to fit all of them in the columns. If you would like an option of printing 2 sets to a page or a black and white option please let me know!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next I have a few ideas that go with choosing the right brings us joy or happiness. This board game is actually from an old post found <a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/2018/07/choosing-right-makes-me-happy-primary-2.html">here</a>. There are tons of ideas in that post on this topic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
If you don't want to play the game you can use the scenario cards and these cute puppets. The kids will hold up the happy or sad face depending on if its a good or bad choice. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also included this free printable that can be displayed throughout the week.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This idea goes with the last one under teaching younger kids. It suggests singing the song when were helping we're happy and then take turns pretending to be the parent and asking the others to do something. Then they practice doing it joyfully. Sometimes kids have a hard time coming up with something on the spot so I made this fun dice they can take turns rolling. Also you can use it with the "fun to do" song. So it would go something like "Sweeping the floor is fun to do, fun to do...." while they pretend to sweep.</div>

<div style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the ideas under teaching the older children talks about Adam and Eve. This story sequence activity from last week would be great to review the story or provide a visual ( you can find it in <a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/2020/02/come-follow-me-2-nephi-1-5-february-3-9.html">this post)</a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">New Bonus Activites for 2 Nephi 3-5! There are tons of ideas below but I added a few more to cover the topic of Joseph Smith and temples. The "seer" page and Joseph page can be used as visuals to help you teach the lesson. There is a page to write/draw your testimony of the prophet Joesph Smith. Last, there is a hunt-and-match activity. If you have young ones (or those young at heart :) It would be a lot of fun to introduce the topic of seer by starting out by playing eye spy. (You can even make a spyglass for your game and hunt :) Then you can explain how a seer differs from looking at something with your eyes. For the temple, I included two different puzzles. It might be fun to put them together to introduce the topic or share something about the temple every time you add a piece. I always like to get kids up and moving so I like to hide my pieces around the room or in a sensory bin. You can also use the search bar on my page and find additional activities on these topics. There are quite a few!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4QmqiCcaWBIAkANgnJDtMQItM_dW0qOlVqDDD_z-tJOX7EtRbsHCI0w950xrg2UYVIMVsGQp5j51X3p7akugD-JTWlQWZkqgIzvw9huR4Z3jDrOxoQkGD70PKFhS_IK8mFxdmf4hGY8p8D7OxQ85-zaoDxdm4rcqgAUpis5ib7MnAAI-iYOko4XxEigAC/s1152/Slide1.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="1152" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh4QmqiCcaWBIAkANgnJDtMQItM_dW0qOlVqDDD_z-tJOX7EtRbsHCI0w950xrg2UYVIMVsGQp5j51X3p7akugD-JTWlQWZkqgIzvw9huR4Z3jDrOxoQkGD70PKFhS_IK8mFxdmf4hGY8p8D7OxQ85-zaoDxdm4rcqgAUpis5ib7MnAAI-iYOko4XxEigAC/w400-h400/Slide1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RHiNjeH9c1JClKhuHHNRJsWfR9MN65Mi/view?usp=sharing"><span style="font-size: large;">Download New Bonus activities Here!</span></a><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">New Bonus activities for 2 Nephi 1-2. While studying these chapters this week I continued to go back to the following two themes-Joy and Friendship. Joy is one of my favorite words and it always jumps out at me. I made a simple printable that can be decorated. If you want to elevate the activity a little, write or draw things that bring you joy. This can be done inside the letters or around the page. I'd love to see your finished pages!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">While I was listening to a podcast this week the words Lehi spoke to Zoram touched me and I have been pondering on Zoram's experience. With Valentine's Day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to talk about what it means to be a true friend and share Nephi and Zoram's story. I added some cute cards that can be colored and given to a friend this week. Fold the card in half and write or draw a special message to your friend. <br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLtdcSzB6A5mivStDks0mglw7-dNjkifBf2hZWA5lWXzuI0bGaGTByCvofMDQtq0jKhDYoz6a_ZsLok-3ACP7tf8JIccnJk66eBIvnz3DEFdsAwP-sdk4715mbDHz61sTkhl3FLh82uMQTKMyPY3s6TS6RkWOviZUDFP6SZLrqcChKCmCw51M8TeDxT0RA/s1152/Slide1.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="1152" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLtdcSzB6A5mivStDks0mglw7-dNjkifBf2hZWA5lWXzuI0bGaGTByCvofMDQtq0jKhDYoz6a_ZsLok-3ACP7tf8JIccnJk66eBIvnz3DEFdsAwP-sdk4715mbDHz61sTkhl3FLh82uMQTKMyPY3s6TS6RkWOviZUDFP6SZLrqcChKCmCw51M8TeDxT0RA/w400-h400/Slide1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1baFYJxzGoxliREvvjivf6EE0Kwn3OaU3/view?usp=sharing"><span style="font-size: large;">Download these bonus activities here </span></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">*In 2020 all 5 chapters were included in one week when I made these activities. It looks like we've now divided these chapters into two weeks and I just now noticed this change. I think there are quite a few ideas that work for chapters 1-2 and I'll work on adding a few more for 3-5 and try and have those ready for next week. Let me know if there is a specific topic or activity you would like me to include.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I am so excited to share these free lesson helps that go along with this week's Come Follow Me lesson. I tried to pick a few topics and ideas from the Individual and Family manual as well as the primary manual. These are perfect for families or primary classes. I have to apologize for posting this so late. We had some thing come up yesterday and didn't have time to finish. Thanks for sticking with me :)<br />
<br />
This first activity goes with 2 Nephi 5 and one of the ideas towards the bottom of the <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-book-of-mormon-2020/06?lang=eng">individual and family manual. </a> We are going to talk about what it means to be happy and some of the things that bring us happiness. Then we are going to read some of the verses that describe the things that brought Nephi and his people happiness. These are probably the a lot of the things that bring us happiness as well. You can cut out the pictures and glue them to the boxes. in the last box draw a picture of something that makes you happy. *Now includes colored pictures too! It would be cute to print out 2 copies and use as a match game. Another idea is to use them to play pictionary and add some of your own too!</div>

2. Use them with the coloring pages-When you hold up the go sign they start coloring and when you hold up the stop sign they have to stop. Switch it back and forth sometimes quickly. I've done this with my own kids at home and they thought it was hilarious. Their coloring wasn't quite as nice as it normally is because they are rushing during the go time but its a lot of fun. I went with a stop light to go with the theme but you can use any coloring page or use the blank one and let them draw fast or slow.</div>

This is my favorite ideas and its so cute!!! The animals and fence stand on their own. I love this idea for teaching that Heavenly Father gives us commandments to keep us safe. Set out the little animals and talk about ways a farmer takes care of them. He feeds them, gives the water, milks the cow, etc. Part of his job is to protect them. He needs to keep them safe from other animals or keep them from wandering off and getting lost or hurt. Ask if they can think of a way he can do this.</div>

I'm excited to share a few ideas with you today. We are going to cover the Liahona, Nephi's broken bow, and Nephi building a boat from 1 Nephi 17-22. This ideas are great for families and primary classes. You can find all of the printables in a free download at the end of this post.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
This first idea comes from the <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-book-of-mormon-2020/05?lang=eng">Individual and Family manual</a>. I loved the introduction and the idea of comparing Nephi's response to hard things and to the other peoples reactions. We can learn so much for him as we face challenges.</div>

Next is an object lesson I came up with to teach about the Liahona and compare it with the ways Heavenly Father guides us.</div>

The next several activites go along with some of the ideas I found in the primary manual. I couldn't pick just one so I made a few printables and lesson helps to add to your lesson. These can always be used at home as well. I love to teach my kids from the primary book during the week to prepare them to participate more on Sunday. <br />
<br />
the first idea are these pick a story cards. You can use them in a few different ways. I am going to put them in a basket and pick one each day to discuss. You can do all at once and use them as a visual. You can have your kids pick a card and they can tell or act out the story. You can also use them with some of the activities below.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu8OqwxNIA-85YJw_wdmbBnR-xmyQ6m8LBodWOnmaWN66k5CSMEXvUrkHXt-uOb25MhSGqVood0J31du_t7sBseDR09IOQNkVmD3kQsHWEL0FuvxsfN35MSNeyEbiWkgD3GdQ5W2Z3IpkK/s1600/My+Album+144-003.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhu8OqwxNIA-85YJw_wdmbBnR-xmyQ6m8LBodWOnmaWN66k5CSMEXvUrkHXt-uOb25MhSGqVood0J31du_t7sBseDR09IOQNkVmD3kQsHWEL0FuvxsfN35MSNeyEbiWkgD3GdQ5W2Z3IpkK/s400/My+Album+144-003.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
As you tell the story let your kids draw a scene from the story.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK8Q8knbCEeiV8FLl5bLN2eOCVEA3psthHu9RdE0zpOTZuCiRWFTIf5l4AXLoBLaHjovYWAlAUCmohsk_PYg39zvqfLCt_DOwmJT2EBtXjsgI9XLBGoxEmQhmyu9ME1sGXsp7O7UWQ_gIn/s1600/My+Album+144-004.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK8Q8knbCEeiV8FLl5bLN2eOCVEA3psthHu9RdE0zpOTZuCiRWFTIf5l4AXLoBLaHjovYWAlAUCmohsk_PYg39zvqfLCt_DOwmJT2EBtXjsgI9XLBGoxEmQhmyu9ME1sGXsp7O7UWQ_gIn/s400/My+Album+144-004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
The clue cards go with the idea in the primary manual under the first topic (2nd idea). I did not fill these out because every building is different OR you may want to use these at home. I would write out the clues in a treasure hunt way so one clue leads to the next. Maybe ask situation question like "what would you do if your sister broke your favorite toy?" If they answer in a way that is a good choice they earn the next clue. You may even want to place some of the story cards from above along the way and talk about ways Nephi did the right thing in these situations. Then have the final clue lead to a treat :) <br />
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">The puppets and drawing page go with the category <span style="background-color: white; color: #0d0f10; letter-spacing: 0.00278em;">I can be a good example to my family. Instead of drawing their own faces I included puppets for them to color. Then on the paper they can draw something they can do this week to help make their family happy. </span></span><br />
<br />

<br />
Here are a few more ideas to go with this topic. I this quote and some stories in an <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/manual/primary-3/lesson-45-i-can-be-a-good-example-for-my-family?lang=eng">old primary manual</a> and thought it was such a cute way to teach about being an example. I included a free printable.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm1AtsogpGOZYRPFU4sjI3lRK6fjbiv7MMs7EUeChDK1LQH57YJ1i96WpcBmZfXcf7785rTw15ZcVC4mCi3eFS97RwQse5gP5QdBmH29aP6jRMkLIl06mT6b8D_jCaoduzXPhI-y3SgST4/s1600/My+Album+144-009.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgm1AtsogpGOZYRPFU4sjI3lRK6fjbiv7MMs7EUeChDK1LQH57YJ1i96WpcBmZfXcf7785rTw15ZcVC4mCi3eFS97RwQse5gP5QdBmH29aP6jRMkLIl06mT6b8D_jCaoduzXPhI-y3SgST4/s400/My+Album+144-009.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Sunshine match game. Each one has a way we can be an example to our family. After a match is found you can share the little story that goes along with that topic.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm14k1LEIJ4vO0CAywBvOl0vVNZK8cwuGWKENagThnxHUQYoUOddLY-tO2wEMp5D0SGavzVs9hO-WNIp3O5zQYS5QG1pdP4JCOktW-imFIP5zLsxmy2f5unsw1Vs0o6ubkuQStUc5QtcI_/s1600/My+Album+144-007.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjm14k1LEIJ4vO0CAywBvOl0vVNZK8cwuGWKENagThnxHUQYoUOddLY-tO2wEMp5D0SGavzVs9hO-WNIp3O5zQYS5QG1pdP4JCOktW-imFIP5zLsxmy2f5unsw1Vs0o6ubkuQStUc5QtcI_/s400/My+Album+144-007.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last is a coloring page with the sunshine theme. There are a couple of different options and they can write a way they can be an example.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGqbbMaJck0dG4Gwt1AL0J9ucIfCQjSztKPwMASMeCDHzGLm8jPleWuT-P3qDEk-MBiGEkKswkhH-dPxSgv1UpSYetlB_jslC5OzHab0vPYi7ZpdWHi-kCnHrdXXyx3eGNp3PhqozgLYyB/s1600/My+Album+144-008.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhGqbbMaJck0dG4Gwt1AL0J9ucIfCQjSztKPwMASMeCDHzGLm8jPleWuT-P3qDEk-MBiGEkKswkhH-dPxSgv1UpSYetlB_jslC5OzHab0vPYi7ZpdWHi-kCnHrdXXyx3eGNp3PhqozgLYyB/s400/My+Album+144-008.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
This idea goes along with one of the suggestions in the teaching older kids under <span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #0d0f10; font-family: inherit;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.00278em;">"When I keep the commandments, the Lord guides me." (2nd idea) The idea is to have one person pretend to have traveled with Nephi and the other to interview that person. There are a few question ideas listed. I decided to add to this idea but </span></span><span style="color: #0d0f10;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.04448px;">assigning</span></span><span style="color: #0d0f10;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.00278em;"> the kids to be news reporters and write up a news article for a newspaper. There is an assignment page to get them thinking and then a blank newspaper page (sample is </span></span><span style="letter-spacing: 0.04448px;">included</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="letter-spacing: 0.00278em;">). I'm hoping this will get them to think a little more deeply about the story. There is space for them to write some thoughts and draw pictures. For younger ones they can use the boxes to draw different parts of the story.</span></span></span></span><br />

This week for Come Follow Me we are covering Nephi's Vision. There are sooooo many topics to pick from and it was hard to narrow it down. Hopefully, you will find something that works for your primary class or family. All of the FREE printables will be in one download at the end of this post. Thanks for stopping by this week :)<br />

We are going to use some of the ideas I shared last week to talk about the Tree of life and the iron rod. You can find that post <a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/2020/01/come-follow-me-1-nephi-8-10-january-13.html">here</a>.<br />

We are also going to talk about the tree and how it represents the love of God. He loves us so much that he sent his son, Jesus Christ to earth. Jesus showed us how to live through his example and he died for us so that we can return to Heavenly Father one day. On this coloring page, one side shows something Heavenly Father did to show love for us (sent Jesus) and in the blank spot they can draw a picture of a way that can show love to others.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
This next activity goes with one of the ideas in<a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-primary-book-of-mormon-2020/04?lang=eng"> the primary manual</a> (about halfway down the page with the video clip). You may want to read their description of the activity for better instructions :) you are going to cut out the Book of Mormon, Bible, and word strip. This works great on a chalk board or if you don't have one a piece of paper is great too! Place the Bible in the center of the page. Have every person draw a different line from the Bible to any spot around the edge of the page. You should end up with several lines going in many different directions. This illustrates that the Bible alone can be interpreted in many ways. Now erase the lines or flip over your paper. place the bible on one side of the page and the Book of Mormon on the other. Now draw a straight line that goes from one book to the other. With these two witnesses, this shows there is only one way to interpret the gospel. Add your word strip above.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Next, we are going to talk about "plain and precious truths" that were restored with the Book of Mormon. <br />
This week for Come Follow Me we are covering 1 Nephi 8-10. I decided to focus on Chapter 8-Lehi's Dream. There are tons of Free printables that you can find at the end of this post. These are great for families and primary classes!<br />
<br />
First i want to share a great link I found in the Friend. Its a simplified version of the story. This is really great for little ones. (Find it <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/bc/content/shared/content/images/magazines/friend/2011/06/fr11jun35-lehi-dream.pdf">Here</a>)<br />
<br />
Another option is to watch some of the great video linked in the <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-book-of-mormon-2020/03?lang=eng">Individual and Family</a> manual.<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
The First idea I had was to have your family draw the different parts of the story as you read it. You can use the page below or your own paper. Another fun idea would be to pull out the colored paper, glue, and scissors and create a picture with your craft supplies. Painting it would be a lot of fun too!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcTwwsj9Mi1AFCxPWR4LCmHFmX1XwjJa2Bjt-zCHjmMIii0xxME9H5qdo4D2PppUsWVS7TbMn4_UTLe3tXkIMWt7ZNvGUfXbhJKyCxb3uuALjb0xXbbv3WMbw0oI4vprNQxwmSuVj8pLRy/s1600/My+Album+144-002.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgcTwwsj9Mi1AFCxPWR4LCmHFmX1XwjJa2Bjt-zCHjmMIii0xxME9H5qdo4D2PppUsWVS7TbMn4_UTLe3tXkIMWt7ZNvGUfXbhJKyCxb3uuALjb0xXbbv3WMbw0oI4vprNQxwmSuVj8pLRy/s400/My+Album+144-002.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
In the primary manual one of the ideas is to teach about the tree representing God's love for us it by showing pictures of some of the things he gave us. I created this cute coloring page to go along with this idea. I made one with some different images representing some of the things he has given us and another blank one so they can draw their own. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB763_y9ZIVl4Z2tFG2SRTxpBAuQIYNbRqckkN2swDwcdh6wahXNAfr988gsLG5uMmxHGFAcBKdofKl9Q_B0GE_Xq-F-3Gi6sO-DN2ls52h8tpql6LlHMejjG9pr7n94WsiHvZ0f8xM2Ev/s1600/My+Album+144-006.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhB763_y9ZIVl4Z2tFG2SRTxpBAuQIYNbRqckkN2swDwcdh6wahXNAfr988gsLG5uMmxHGFAcBKdofKl9Q_B0GE_Xq-F-3Gi6sO-DN2ls52h8tpql6LlHMejjG9pr7n94WsiHvZ0f8xM2Ev/s400/My+Album+144-006.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week's lesson doesn't go over the interpretation of Lehi's dream (that's is in next weeks chapters.). However, I did create this little match game in case you wanted to teach it all at once. Or save this one for next week :) The images are the same so even the little ones can play. As you find a match read the two words to help your family learn the meaning. Print the two pages on cardstock (if you don't have cardstock its a good idea to glue the cards to colored paper or something so you can't see through it.) *The wording came from <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/friend/2006/08/for-little-friends/lehis-dream?lang=eng">The Friend.</a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I included the scripture sequencing cards again. Cut out only the page with the pictures. Use them to retell the story. If follow right along with chapter 8. I did not have room to include Laman and Lemuel so I was going to mention they did not come with card #3. If you need more details for these let me know. I did inlcude a black and white option. I know there are several of you that love to use those ones :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These last few ideas go with the New Era article by President Boyd K. Packer that was mentioned in the manual. You can find the article <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/new-era/2015/01/lehis-dream-and-you?lang=eng">here</a>. I would encourage you to read this it is so good! I am printing a copy for my older two girls for their personal study this week. Here's is a quote I included from this that you can display or talk about.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibkUhWsy2qQVjEfN8p_-ZT9gimNEnVXf2wjQ2nQpEfxHfTSvCntemE3_oIM8hvmHE5HcWEonOLEBjx8jOHPDjZwKammrsajuTRQxPdVx9QY0pEe_xweMcKr8qX0ONgU4TGkYfwXZozLCUP/s1600/Jan+3+%2528bom%2529-007.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1237" data-original-width="1600" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEibkUhWsy2qQVjEfN8p_-ZT9gimNEnVXf2wjQ2nQpEfxHfTSvCntemE3_oIM8hvmHE5HcWEonOLEBjx8jOHPDjZwKammrsajuTRQxPdVx9QY0pEe_xweMcKr8qX0ONgU4TGkYfwXZozLCUP/s400/Jan+3+%2528bom%2529-007.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In the article he gives several things that will help us hold on tight to the iron rod. I thought it would be cute to create your own iron rod for you family to hold on to this week. I plan to use yarn and tie it from one end of my house to the other (in a straight line). Then I am going to tape these cute posters on the wall following our path (spaced apart). The we are all going to hold on the the "rod" and walk. As we get to each sign we will stop and talk about ways that action will help us keep our grip strong. Once we are done we are going to eat some sort of fruit treat or pretzels. I haven't decided yet :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimL1zndgqLO03ipr_JMS7lSn5wv7ty7OpQDvE_l9WBoJPueHVTZTp1SSOMO-yQJTRKYOQHaxZniP-MbMUUbqxJinM2X7D1u6lAyrp4CGcV23vZAWHsb5GORdPNpESmxAB1FwLFZDp-sKlV/s1600/My+Album+144-004.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEimL1zndgqLO03ipr_JMS7lSn5wv7ty7OpQDvE_l9WBoJPueHVTZTp1SSOMO-yQJTRKYOQHaxZniP-MbMUUbqxJinM2X7D1u6lAyrp4CGcV23vZAWHsb5GORdPNpESmxAB1FwLFZDp-sKlV/s400/My+Album+144-004.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Another idea is to hide this little circles around the house for your kids to find. Gather them up and glue to the board. This makes for a really cute display. OR use velcro or something similar so they can do it over and over again.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2ahzRp5G6n8gTbJ04hwt2DjEvmbURL-8LDiVYGwXIdG0PfmGtVXRMTNa1Bx9v9zI4XDw0Esc_g8GM-LAUAaP6DccksRDzFWHBhl8ot0qjDYfK5aG9kdLlqktXvMGh7YYT2Ge8ywAIKX7X/s1600/My+Album+144-005.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1600" data-original-width="1600" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2ahzRp5G6n8gTbJ04hwt2DjEvmbURL-8LDiVYGwXIdG0PfmGtVXRMTNa1Bx9v9zI4XDw0Esc_g8GM-LAUAaP6DccksRDzFWHBhl8ot0qjDYfK5aG9kdLlqktXvMGh7YYT2Ge8ywAIKX7X/s400/My+Album+144-005.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
For this weeks journaling page we are going to take some of those ideas and draw or write one or two ways that we can hold to the rod. Use the empty space on the page for your writing or drawing. There are two style. One is just the iron rod and tree and the other has a kid that they can color to look like them. There are 4 different kid options.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I hope you have all had a wonderful week! This week we are covering 1 Nephi 1-7 for <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-book-of-mormon-2020/02?lang=eng">Come Follow Me</a>. I am so excited to make The Book of Mormon my main study focus this year. I love reading the familiar stories and diving a little deeper. I have a few fun ideas for you this week that are perfect for families or primary classes. You can find the in the Free download at the end of this post.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal">

<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The first idea goes with 1 Nephi 1:1. How many times have we read this verse haha. This time we are going to focus on it. We are going to talk about the phrase "goodly parents." Discuss some ways Lehi and Sariah were “goodly parents.” Then think of and share some of the “goodly” traits of your parents, grandparents, or someone you admire. I decided to include others because it really does take a village to raise children. You can use this cute printable to write down your thoughts. There are two wording options-use the best one for your situation. These can be done as a family or print one for each person.</div>

There are some of the great video clips on the church's website linked in <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/manual/come-follow-me-for-individuals-and-families-book-of-mormon-2020/02?lang=eng">the lesson</a> or I know my kids like the Living Scriptures. We are going to be watching <a href="https://amzn.to/35nyXEs">this video</a> from Liken (affiliate link). I've mentioned these movies before and my kids honestly love them-they often pick these for movie night. They have fun music and are a little goofy but teach the story and a principal really well. </div>

I also included a fun bingo game with some of the people from the story. You can also print 2 of the calling cards to create a match game.</div>

And I included a sequence story. Cut the page with pictures apart and they can place them in order. I like to add Velcro to my board and the back of the cards. It is kind of a long story and was hard to condense into 6 pictures so if you have any questions on what is happening let me know :) *Black and White option included! Finally, we are going to talk about the story in chapter 7 and how Nephi forgave his brothers. I have a page in the download with a quote from the Friend about forgiveness that we are going to read. I really want to stress that forgiveness isn't always easy. The story of Nephi forgiving his brothers may be a little hard for kids to relate to so I thought I would share this story from the friend. (I mentioned it in a post from last year so you may recognize it). It's a cute story about a boy quickly forgiving his mom (you can find and print it <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/friend/2015/03/calvins-awesome-space-jet?lang=eng">here</a>). </div>

After we are going to use these rockets to find ways to help us forgive (words come from <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/friend/2015/03/family-fun-time?lang=eng">here</a>). Print the rockets and cut out. Cut the page of words out and glue the correct number behind the rocket. Hide them around the room. The page with the stars is optional. As you find a rocket use pom poms to cover the star that matches the number. Another idea would be to pull out legos and build your own creations.</div>

I love the quiet week between Christmas and New Year and I am also organizing all the things in my home. Can anyone relate?!? One of my goals this year is to be more intentional with my time. That includes the time I spend with my family. These fun holiday calendars are something I like to use to make the day just a little extra special. No, we do not celebrate every single holiday and we always keep it pretty simple. My kids even just love to check the calendar each day and let everyone know the holiday happens to land on that day. Its fun and provides a great way to connect even if for a moment. I hope you and your family can use this calendar in your home and that it puts a smile on your face. I am wishing you a Happy New Year and hope it is a wonderful one for you full of special memories. See you soon.<p></p><p><br /></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: large;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oP0ShmKLJf-IQ-wLLPxOO9oLW48tHDvZ/view?usp=sharing">Download your free holiday calendar here!</a></span></p>Crystalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06553764890755083117noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6751081149493705137.post-22463632782828053192023-12-30T15:53:00.000-08:002023-12-31T13:53:50.975-08:00Come Follow Me: Introductory Pages of the Book of Mormon <div class="MsoNormal">

I'll be going through and adding those missing weeks as well. If you have any requests for activities please let me know! The first is a coloring page. It's such a sweet reminder that the Book of Mormon teaches about Christ. If you have older children they can also write around the image some things they know and love about Jesus Christ. The second activity goes along with a story Elder Renlend shares about President Nelson's experience sharing the Book of Mormon with a King! I his talk Elder Renlend says there is no greater gift as he talks about the Book of Mormon. There are two options that help you create a gift full of words from President Nelson. These come from Elder Renlend's talk as well as an article in the <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/friend/2024/01/03-power-in-the-book-of-mormon?lang=eng">January 2024 Friend</a> (There is a really cute coloring page in the Friend that goes along with his talk). I must confess I have not tested out these gift boxes yet-I just finished creating them and wanted to get them to you as soon as possible-so if there is a mistake please forgive me and let me know so I can fix it. You can download the free Come Follow Me lesson helps below and keep scrolling because there are tons of ideas from 4 years ago that are some of my favorites.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nzo-JxRye5O2l3tRKfH48y3YHWzTS39Y/view?usp=sharing"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Download Here </span></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Originally Posted December 29, 2019</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and week. We spent it with family and friends and have enjoyed being home and a little extra time together. I can't believe it has been a year since we started Come Follow Me. I am so grateful for the time we spent studying the New Testament and for this program. I am also so excited to study the Book of Mormon this year. Thank you for sending me suggestions and requests for this year and please don't hesitate to let me know what you need. I will do my best to include them. I love the New Year. I mentioned last week that it really motivates me to change and improve and one of those improvements is to get these lesson helps to you by Friday again. Please forgive me if I don't make this deadline :) This week we are covering the introduction pages of the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon Teaches: Punch box or Seek and Find-Cut the hearts apart and hide them around the room OR if you are feeling ambitious create a punch box and place one in each cup. I have not decided which one I am going to do. The punch box is a lot of fun and goes great with the "getting in shape" theme but it does take some time to put together. *All of these quotes come from <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2017/10/the-book-of-mormon-what-would-your-life-be-like-without-it?lang=eng">this talk</a> by President Nelson.<br />

Additional ideas:<br />
My Testimony: Take a few minutes and write your testimony of the Book of Mormon. Keep it in a safe place. Over the year pull it out and read through it. Look for ways it has changed or grown. Have you noticed any blessings from reading the Book of Mormon.<br />

However, my 10 year old is teaching part of her class tomorrow and created a fun activity to share. I thought it might be helpful and I'm posting it really quick. She filled 5 brown paper bags with different items that are either hard or soft (she included her list for you :). She is going to have the class take turns feeling the item and guessing what it is. Then she made two posters with hearts. The blank one she drew a sad face. Then she is giving the class sticky notes where they will write ways they their hearts can become hard or ways they can soften their heart. The sticky notes will be placed on the correct heart. I hope this helps and plan to keep working my way through the missing lessons. Have a great week!</p><p><br /></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/10qsJx9Emknayhmf3W7mX8oYCT5rsJyjr/view?usp=sharing"><span style="font-size: large;"> Download Here</span></a></p>Crystalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06553764890755083117noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6751081149493705137.post-19913738775125729952023-10-16T12:18:00.000-07:002023-10-16T12:18:41.104-07:00Come Follow Me: 1 & 2 Thessalonians <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">UPDATE: (10/16/2023)</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I just added some additional activities for this week's Come Follow Me lesson to help you teach 1 & 2 Thessalonians. <div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: inherit;">Thank you all for you kind words last week. It was an unintended break but much needed :) I need to be honest with all of you. These last few months I have been struggling a lot with stress and trying to keep up with everything. I have 5 young and busy kids, teach preschool a couple times a week, and try to keep up with this blog (not to mention all of the other household and church responsibilities). I'm telling you this because something needed to change. I had been praying for help and my answer came during General Conference. I need to simplify, even though many things are good I need to focus more on what is better or best and finally <a href="https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/general-conference/2019/10/36nelson?lang=eng">President Nelson's talk</a> "<span style="background-color: white; color: #212225;">examine your life meticulously and regularly. As you do so, the Holy Ghost will prompt you about what is no longer needful, what is no longer worthy of your time and energy...</span><span style="background-color: white; color: #212225;">As you shift your focus away from worldly distractions, some things that seem important to you now will recede in priority. You will need to say no to some things, even though they may seem harmless. As you embark upon and continue this lifelong process of consecrating your life to the Lord, the changes in your perspective, feelings, and spiritual strength will amaze you!</span><span style="background-color: white;"><span style="color: #212225;">" Since then I have been making many changes and shifting my priorities. One of the big things that I have decided to adjust is the way I will be sharing my Come Follow Me activities. While I do believe sharing is so good (and I love it so much) it is taking a lot of time away from things that are better for me and my family. Don't worry I am not going away :) I will still be sharing each week but in a much different way. Instead of trying to cover everything and provide a ton of options I will now be offering one option. It will be more of an FHE post that can certainly be adapted for primary as well. I'll be using the primary manual to pick the topic. I think this will help my own children be more prepared for their Sunday lessons and help out our primary teachers that stop by. I was just released from primary and know that it can be hard to teach many of these lessons so I will make sure it is something you can use as well. I was called to nursery (yeah!) so I may be sharing some of my lesson ideas for the tiny ones :) So if you have nursery age kids or teach watch for that. One thing I really love about Come Follow Me is that it is open for us to pick the topic that works be for our family or class. There is not a set topic or guide. So the topic I pick may not be one you need. If this is the case use the search bar on my blog. I have been sharing for over a year now and there is a good chance there is an activity on one of the topics you need. I know that was a lot and a big change and I hope these post will still help you and your family or class. I appreciate all of you so much for stopping by each week and I'm excited for this change.</span></span></span></div>

Edit: I had someone ask for printable items to put in the suitcase. She is going to hide them around the room and have her kids share a way they can prepare for the second coming when they add it to the suitcase. I thought that was so cute and that some of you may want a copy as well. You can get those <a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1EtDznm306lJazjfnJLWfJg1HG6VWnKgd/view?usp=sharing">here</a>. Life was busy, messy, hard, and something needed to give. Unfortunately creating weekly activities was one of the things that had to change. The good news is as we circle back to studying the New Testament this year I have activities done for every week! You can find activities for the year pinned at the top under the <a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/p/come-follow-me.html">Come Follow Me tab</a>. I am also working on having a page with activities organized by topic as well. As life continues to evolve, I hope to be back posting here and on social media a little more this year. As I plan and figure out what to share this year I am curious what would you like to see more of, what would be helpful, or do you have any other suggestions for me? Thanks to all of you that have checked in on me and continue to stop by. It was hard to step away and even though it may look different I look forward to being back. </p><p>You can find this week's Come Follow Me activities Here</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/2018/12/we-are-responsible-for-our-own-learning.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1102" data-original-width="735" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgNxdFxJARE94CeYAT2XDG-0vES18y7f1JwK4zmuOjcd9974t07e_H-_xMcVLirH0xW0XxLKQC60HJnzRxpHUikyFuukZCtS_dFZ_3d4OHMHcTKJF7mIynfAvV6mvguV9v-FGUmlxSGwxAD/w426-h640/the+city+%25289%2529.png" width="426" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">and Next Week's Here</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://www.thecozyredcottage.com/2019/01/january-713-matthew-1-luke-1-come.html" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="640" data-original-width="427" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-I0fvLzO7nUnB64Ga9F0sohJ9aaDMPSNGFbJQYRcwH7zyuXmbKVbcaHdL7KOV6oeTsw53w53X3r5en3TPWgPUlogiIEQUK65Wi4s0GS7GDNveU8U9Fw41E1dor3h8CTy7_Pn_7AE0Az5o/w428-h640/the+city+%252810%2529.png" width="428" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><br /><p><br /></p>Crystalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06553764890755083117noreply@blogger.com11tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6751081149493705137.post-20260729450144095212022-07-13T16:27:00.005-07:002022-07-13T16:27:20.881-07:00Free Come Follow Me Lesson Helps: 2 Kings 17-25<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgshTv8zai60bLS1Igw98bKi00eq3Xwu9usHRWZQm_MudvQU2U1q0IOYVEPzyuJtrW2ozom4LbZwhCbHAdLU6W4yc2cY0ikcXhhHbsoBCtMJHf43ofbMgM3KE8SeIpr6Q9ayfVrr9IBNFN5mlYEHJC7pnifTCKD5cihpVP1WlObIKRmXuE1jeypjDyalw/s1152/Slide1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1152" data-original-width="1152" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgshTv8zai60bLS1Igw98bKi00eq3Xwu9usHRWZQm_MudvQU2U1q0IOYVEPzyuJtrW2ozom4LbZwhCbHAdLU6W4yc2cY0ikcXhhHbsoBCtMJHf43ofbMgM3KE8SeIpr6Q9ayfVrr9IBNFN5mlYEHJC7pnifTCKD5cihpVP1WlObIKRmXuE1jeypjDyalw/w640-h640/Slide1.JPG" width="640" /></a></div><br /> This week we are learning about King Hezekiah and King Josiah! I am excited to do something for International Picnic Day, Strawberry Parfait day, and of course Father's Day. I love using these calendars in the summer and get my kids involved in the planning. We always keep it simple and the focus is on spending time together as a family. A quick example is building log cabins out of blocks or take a nature walk and let your kids take some pictures. Super simple and fun! Thanks for being patient with me as I took a little break.</p><p style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Lar5gg0-q_9sbfCK-Pl-26MjeW_Uc7DX/view?usp=sharing"><span style="font-size: x-large;">Download Free Activities Here</span></a></p>Crystalhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06553764890755083117noreply@blogger.com3
