Come Follow Me: Introductory Pages of the Book of Mormon

I'll be republishing the original Book of Mormon Lesson Helps to the top of my blog for convenience. If I add additional activities or updates I'll let you know at the top of the post. I hope to do this for many of them as I go through the new manual and now that my kids are a little older :) I know I have several weeks I did not do 4 years ago-2020 was tough to get to everything. I'll be going through and adding those missing weeks as well. If you have any requests for activities please let me know! Thanks for joining me as we study the Book of Mormon this year!

NEW ACTIVITIES! (Posted December 31, 2023)
I have two new activities for this week and I am so excited about them! The first is a coloring page. It's such a sweet reminder that the Book of Mormon teaches about Christ. If you have older children they can also write around the image some things they know and love about Jesus Christ.  The second activity goes along with a story Elder Renlend shares about President Nelson's experience sharing the Book of Mormon with a King! I his talk Elder Renlend says there is no greater gift as he talks about the Book of Mormon. There are two options that help you create a gift full of words from President Nelson. These come from Elder Renlend's talk as well as an article in the January 2024 Friend (There is a really cute coloring page in the Friend that goes along with his talk). I must confess I have not tested out these gift boxes yet-I just finished creating them and wanted to get them to you as soon as possible-so if there is a mistake please forgive me and let me know so I can fix it. You can download the free Come Follow Me lesson helps below and keep scrolling because there are tons of ideas from 4 years ago that are some of my favorites.

I am also so excited to study the Book of Mormon this year.  Thank you for sending me suggestions and requests for this year and please don't hesitate to let me know what you need.  I will do my best to include them.  I love the New Year.  I mentioned last week that it really motivates me to change and improve and one of those improvements is to get these lesson helps to you by Friday again.  Please forgive me if I don't make this deadline :)  This week we are covering the introduction pages of the Book of Mormon.  (You can find the Come Follow Me lesson here.)  This week I have some really fun lesson helps for you.  These are great for families and primary classes.  As as always you can find all of the printables FREE in the download at the end of this post.

This week we are going to start with a mini workout.  Do jumping jacks, run in place, push up, etc.  You can use the exercise dice in the download-roll and do 10 of the exercise you land on.  Repeat.

Once everyone is tired, rest and discuss some of your family or personal goals for the new year.

Explain that we often make goals to get our bodies in shape but there is something else we should strengthen-our testimonies. Share one the following quotes

(included in one of the links below)

or
(included in the download)

Discussion: How can we strengthen our testimonies of the Book of Mormon this year?  What goals can we set to accomplish this?  *If time read one or more of the testimonies located at the beginning of the Book of Mormon
*Goal trackers can be found here.

The Book of Mormon Teaches: Punch box or Seek and Find-Cut the hearts apart and hide them around the room OR if you are feeling ambitious create a punch box and place one in each cup.  I have not decided which one I am going to do.  The punch box is a lot of fun and goes great with the "getting in shape" theme but it does take some time to put together.  *All of these quotes come from this talk by President Nelson.

Additional ideas:
My Testimony:  Take a few minutes and write your testimony of the Book of Mormon.  Keep it in a safe place.  Over the year pull it out and read through it.  Look for ways it has changed or grown.  Have you noticed any blessings from reading the Book of Mormon.

Videos: There is an animated video in the Primary manual that goes along with Joseph Smith's testimony. or a live version options here or here.  or starting at minute 10 to 12 of the full length movie.  This is such a wonderful movie we watched it a couple month ago and may watch it again this week.  I also found it free on Amazon prime.

We did this FHE a couple years ago and I thought it would be a great fit.  You can find the details here and the printable above.

This Book of Mormon match game would be a fun game to play this week.  You can find it here

Book of Mormon Reading Trackers I found a while ago: Scripture Reading chart-cute ones here and here

That's all for this week.  If you have any questions or trouble with the download please let me know :)

*I will be starting a New list with all of the Come Follow Me lessons like I did last year.  I need to do a few behind the scene things first  and should have that up for you by the end of the week!

December Holiday Calendar 2023

Do you remember long ago when I would make these fun holiday calendars? I decided its something I want to bring back after a long break. I mean how cute are these?!? My kids love them and started asking me to make them again so here we are. I hope these are something your family will love as well.
I had this done a week ago and just remembered I forgot to post it! I'm hoping to get back into the swing of posting more consistently again. I've kind of missed this place. You can find the link to download this calendar below-there won't be a giant watermark and its easy to print. Let me know if you have any trouble.
I like to print a copy and hang it on the fridge. We pick and choose some holidays to celebrate but we also think its fun to look at it each day :) I like to keep it simple and managable but I'd love to hear your ideas or see your picture! (Tag me on Instagram, facebook, or let me know it the comments!)
I hope you and your family have a wonderful December and I'll talk to you soon!
