Free Come Follow Me Activities for Job

This week, we are learning all about Job. I love how much God loved Job and that Job never lost faith in Him. In fact, it was his faith in Jesus Christ that sustained him even when the unimaginable happened. I also love that this is a story of friendship; we see examples of what a good and not-so-good friend looks like. Before it goes bad, his friends did some wonderful things. They came, they sat with him, they mourned with him, and I love that example!
I had a little bit of a hard time coming up with a way to bring Job's story down to a level that felt age-appropriate for younger ones. You know your kids and what they need, and I hope you find something that works for your family or primary class :) I included activities to help you teach the story and explain that God is with us through the good and hard times. We are also going to talk about what it means to be a good friend and share our testimony of Jesus Christ. This one was a hard one for me, but I have loved studying this book. It was actually a really good week for me to have this on my mind; my daughter just started home MTC yesterday, and I've been struggling a little bit. We can all learn from Job's example :) Also, I'd love to know what you learned this week or what resources you use to study! Have a wonderful week, and thank you for stopping by!

Free Come Follow Me Activities for Esther

This week we are covering one of my favorite stories, Esther. I think it's one of my favorites because my children love to watch the Liken movie, Esther and the King and so its one I am very familiar with. Her story and bravery are truly remarkable. This week as I studied my love for this book grew even more. Here are a few thoughts I had this week while reading and studying these chapters. First, I want to be more like Mordecai! The more I learned about him the more I saw his deep love for Esther, he took her in as his own and continued to love and care for her in anyway he could.   Another thought, in their deepest trial their response was to fast.  Fasting is not just a sign of faith but a sign of hope. The last one is I learned this week is that God is not mentioned anywhere in this book but I there is evidence of Him and His involvemnt is everywhere. He really is in the details of our lives. As you look for Him in your life you will always find him and begin to recognize Him more clearly.
I am so excited to share these activities with you! We actually have three topics this week, service, bravery, and fasting all centered around the book of Esther.   The instructions are in the download below. Let me know if you have any questions and I hope there is something that works for your family or primary class this week. Have a wonderful week!

Free Come Follow Me activities for Moses 7

You can find some fun ideas I made four years ago here

New Bonus Activities!!!

This week I have a few more fun ideas to keep the theme of being a becoming like the people of Enoch that were of "one heart & one mind." In a fun video we watch for our Come Follow Me family study, the host used the phrase "Trying for Zion." I thought that was a fun way to think about it and move us towards action! As I thought about that phrase the thought that kept coming to me was how can we make our home a little more like Zion or the City of Enoch? The answer I came up with is service and showing others that that we care. Fitting in with this theme I love how the Come Follow Me handout asks the children to write a way they can show love. I included a few fun additional ways to record acts or service this week. Perfect for leading up to Valentine's Day.
The first couple have big boxes so you can write or draw a picture of something you did to show kindness or love. Another option is to color in a balloon every time you serve (there is room to draw or write as well.)
The last two activities go with the second idea in the manual under the topic "God wants us to be “of one heart and one mind.” It suggests to "make a paper heart and cut it into pieces, enough for each child (or family member) to have one. Let them write their name on their piece and work together to put the heart together. As they do, you might talk about things you love about each child." This is such a fun and special activity-I included a heart that you can use. Another option to use the heart for is an activity I did with the Primary activity day girls years ago. The idea is to have each person write their name in the middle of the heart. Then tape the paper to the back of your shirt. Go around the room and write something you like/love about that person. Make sure you write on everyone's paper. It is so sweet. This would work for families or a primary class. Last are some little cards that say I love you because...Color and finish the sentence. How cute would this be to leave around the house for different family members.

(Adorable sample from our activity)

I hope you have a wonderful week of finding ways to show kindness and love and make your home a little more like Heaven on Earth.

Free Come Follow Me Helps for Moses 1 & Abraham 3

This week we are focusing on the topic I am a child of God because that knowledge changes everything.  Elder Hallstrom in 2016 said  "Our most fundamental doctrine includes the knowledge that we are children of a living God. That is why one of His most sacred names is Father—Heavenly Father...This doctrine is so basic, so oft stated, and so instinctively simple that it can seem to be ordinary, when in reality it is among the most extraordinary knowledge we can obtain. A correct understanding of our heavenly heritage is essential to exaltation."
President Nelson also taught, “The way you think about who you really are affects almost every decision you will ever make”

I made this set of activities four years ago and you can Find it Here!

I do have a new bonus activity for you!

One of the suggestions in the manual is to learn or sing "I Will Follow God's Plan for Me" to help teach "I lived as a spirit before I was born on earth." I have posters, coloring pages, and blank pages for drawing. You can download it below!

Free Come Follow Me ideas for Introduction to The Old Testament

I am so excited to start the new year diving into the Old Testament. Four years ago I was a brand new youth Sunday school teacher and was so scared not only to teach but make sure I understood what I was teaching. While preparing for one of my first lessons I was listening to a podcast and the guest said something along the lines of The Old Testament shows us how much God loves us. It was in that moment I decided to look for God's love as I read every week and guess what...I found it every week! I fell in love with the Old Testament and teaching Sunday School. It might be the best calling :)
I noticed I did not post much four years ago but I am again going to try my best to keep showing up and sharing as often as I can. Thank you, thank you for every time you stop by. I know there are so many options now to find help with your Come Follow Me lessons and it means so much that you stop by. I hope you have the best New Year and love studying the Old Testament this year.

You can find the Free Download below. I have included a scripture hunt, coloring pages, and a fun game for you to use with your family or primary class.

Free Come Follow Me Lesson Helps for Doctrine and Covenants 137-138

First I want to apologize for disappearing for a month. It was not my intention but life happens sometimes and I didn't have the time to create any activities for you. I appreciate you sticking around even when I'm not consistent with sharing.

This week I do have something for you! In D&C 138 we read about President Joseph F. Smith reading and pondering the scriptures and the blessing that came from his study. Tonight for FHE we are going to talk about this and the importance of making the scriptures apart of our lives. Next we are going to play scripture Pictionary-it would also work for charades. I have 20 cards for you with simple words that relate to different scripture stories (I used stories from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and D&C). If you need more info on how to play either let me know and I'll get that to you :) I ran out of time to type it up. Here's a twist we are going to add-1 point for correct guess (the big word in bold) and the give the team one guess figure out the scripture story it relates to. Many are obvious, a few are a little harder. Finally we are going to end by having everyone share their favorite scripture or scripture story and why.

As always I hope to be able to come back this week and create a few more activities, I promise I'll try :) For now you can find this fun game in the download below!

Free Come Follow Me Lesson Helps: Doctrine and Covenants 58-59

This week we are covering D&C 58-59. I decided to focus our activities on agency and being able to choose.  With this cute gumball theme we are going to talk about good and bad choices and that both have consequences.  There are a few different game options (including one for the little ones) and journaling pages. If you have an older class or family members you may want to write your own scenarios or dig a little deeper into the ones I created-that's what I do for my family.  I hope your family or primary class has so much fun learning to "chews" the right this week!
