I will Remember Jesus Christ During the Sacrament (Primary 2 Lesson 38)

I just finished the rest of this lesson (I posted some of it last week but ran out of time due to family in town). Here are some fun lesson helps for lesson 38 (I will remember Jesus Christ during the sacrament).

Scripture Story and discussion.  Cut apart and as you read the scriptures at the end you can use these as a visual.  You can also fold or cover up the words and ask your class if they know what each represents before you show them the words.

Scripture: Here's a fun match game I made for on of our family home evenings.  The instructions and download are in the post.

Story: Have the children draw a picture of their favorite story about the Savior.  Let them come to the front of the class and share their picture as well as the story.

Discussion:  Print out the Question page and print and cut the circles on the next page.  Place the circles in a bag and have the children take turns drawing them.  After ask if they have any ideas and write them on your page.

Activity:Print and cut out the cards.  Take turns picking a card and decide if its something we should or should not think or do during the sacrament.  You can use the idea in the manual and have them stand or sit, or do thumbs up or thumbs down, smile or frown, or use the happy and sad face from last weeks lesson.

Enrichment activity #1:  Here's a cute mini coloring book with the lyrics to the song.  Print one for each child.  If you have an older class they can cut and staple the books together during class.  For younger classes I would have it ready ahead of time.  Cut the pages apart and bind either with staples or  hole punch the top corner and bind with a book ring or ribbon.  If you are like me and have a few kids that are not real interested in making one for themselves (this could also read as a couple of 8 year old boys that have no interest in any of my coloring activities haha)  encourage them to make on for their younger siblings. My hope is that they will bring this little book to church with them and look through it during Sacrament meeting.
(Update: the link is now fixed.  I'm so sorry to those that needed the mini book sooner! If there is ever a problem with one of the downloads please don't hesitate to let me know.)

Enrichment Activity #3: Print and cut into 5 puzzle pieces. Make sure you have one question per puzzle piece.  Place pieces on the table or hide around the room.  Answer the questions and put the puzzle together.  (B&W version also included)

Enrichment Activity #4 A cute visual to go with the activity.  Say together and ask the questions in the manual.

Candy Corn Number Puzzles (1-10)

Today I have a fun way to practice numbers.  These cute candy corn puzzles are quick to prepare and will be enjoyed by your preschooler.  Its also a great way to introduce 10 frames.  They will also work on their number recognition and one to one correspondents.

Download and print the candy corns.  Laminate (optional) and cut along the dark lines.  Mix the pieces up and have your preschool find the 3 pieces for each puzzle.

I can Keep the Sabbath Day Holy (Lesson 37 Primary 2)

Here are some free lesson helps to go along with Lesson 37, I can keep the Sabbath day holy.  You can find the lesson here.I had so much fun creating a this pack and hope you find something helpful for your class.  This would also be great for FHE-pick and choose an activity or 2 for your lesson.

Attention activity: Calendar and calendar cards.  Explain what a calendar is and ask them what they did during the week.  The older classes may be able to tell you the day they did the activity as well.  I included 12 activity cards for the week and 6 for the sabbath day.  As they tell you the activity tape it to your calendar.  If its an activity like school place it on Monday and draw a line across.   If there is not a card for the activity draw directly on the calendar or if your art skills are as awesome as mine you can always write it.  Finish with Sunday activities.  This will help lead you into the next questions, discussion section, and activities.

Scripture poster (goes with scripture and word strips): Display through out class or cut into puzzle pieces and have your class put it together.  Read out loud.  this can also be used for enrichment activity #3 (help the children memorize the verse).

Activity: Cut out the happy and sad face and the cards on the next page (these come from the manual).  Place the cards in a bag and display the faces.  Take turns drawing a card and decide if the activity is something we should or should not do on the sabbath.

Scripture Story: Before class print and cut out sheep and the scripture.  Glue the scripture to the back of the sheep.  Hide it somewhere in your class room.  When it comes time to read the scripture have the kids search for the sheep.  Once found read the scripture.  You can also play a few rounds of hot and cold and let them take turns hiding and finding the sheep.

Sabbath Day book: I could not get the book from the manual to open...anyone else have this problem?  So I created an interactive page.  Print the two pages for each child.  On the first page (the one that says my Sabbath book) you are going to cut along the lines going horizontal and fold the line going vertical.  Glue the title area to the second page where it says glue :)  Let the kids color the pictures.

Enrichment Activity 2:  Pick one or both of these activities.  Print the cards, blank face, and hands.  Cut the apart the cards and the hands.  Have the kids pick a card and answer the question.  After have them use a marker and draw the body part that was talked about on the blank face.  The hands will be taped on the front of the face (see below for example)

Bonus Activity: Sabbath day I can...spinners.  Its a cute and fun way to remember some of the fun things we CAN do on the Sabbath.  Print 1 page per child (cardstock recommended but not required).  Cut out both circles.  Have the kids color and use a brad to connect in the center.  Turn to find a fun idea to do on the Sabbath. Boy and Girl option.

14 Fun holidays to Celebrate with your kids in October

I know this is almost a week late and looking a little empty in comparison to other months.  We've had a house full of sick kids and everything has just been put on hold.  I almost skipped it but my kids have been asking about it :)  I hope this is something your family has enjoyed as well.

We pick a few and for the most part keep it pretty simple.  You do not need to celebrate all of them (we don't) just pick and choose what works for you and your family.

Download a copy of the calendar, print, display, and have fun.

General Conference Bingo, Match Game, and Mini Notebook

General Conference is a few days so I wanted to get this to you in time for you to use it! I'll add extra pictures of the finished product late. This post is going to be short and sweet but full of some fun ideas.  I actually put this together for activity days (find additional ideas for this at the end of the post) but will also be using it for my family.  As always if you have any trouble downloading one of the files please let me know!

First up is General Conference Bingo.  There are a lot of cute ones available (check pinterest) but I can't help myself when it comes to making something with adorable graphics.   And Melonheadz's graphics can't be beat.  There are 6 different board and 2 sizes.  If you need more boards let me know and I'll try and put a few more variations together.  This can be played 2 ways: 1. While watching Conference listen for the words on the board.  2. Use the cute calling cards below and play over and over.

Download here:

Calling Cards OR Match Game:  Print one set to use with the Bingo game above or Print 2 of each page on cardstock and use as a match game.

Mini Notebook.  There is one page per apostle & the Prophet.  A cover page, a question and answer page (w/ quote for the youth), and 3 extra blank pages.  Print (preferably on cardstock), cut the pages apart, hole punch the top corner, and add a book ring.  These can also be used after conference as you re-read and study the talks.

You can find more general conference ideas here.

If using this for activity days we are also going to talk about the Holy Ghost and Personal Revelation.  We are going to use this activity Share some of the quotes and play the game.

Put together the Conference Notebook and Play Bingo if time.

We also plan to make these fun Monster Mash Brownies found here.

and I'm being super ambitious and we'll be making these cute black cats out of socks found here.

I'll be sending home these Faith in God Task Cards.  Have the girls let you know if they finished at the next activity.

Preparing for General Conference FHE fishing game

General Conference is this weekend and I can't wait!  With that being said it kind of snuck up on me and I'm just now finishing our Family Home Evening for tonight.  If you don't find this in time you can still use these cute fish and fun bios during conference.  You may need to change it a little to fit your needs. I'm actually using a lot of this fhe I posted last year, its just updated.

We are going to be learning some fun facts about the apostle and prophets so they might recognize some of them as they speak but more importantly we are going to talk about why we have a prophet and apostle, why we have conference and how we can be spiritually prepare to hear their messages.  This is just my outline.  Add whatever you think would be best for your family.

You can download The game and bios here  and the power point here. I'm crossing my fingers I shared the power point right...let me know!  Update! The power point has been updates with some extra fun facts and you can get the printable card version with the updates in the download in this post.

The Theme is "Follow me, and I will make you Fishers of Men"

Start with  this clip (Bible story fishers of men)
Ask questions such as "what do you think Jesus was asking them to do?  What does it mean to be a fisher of men?  Do you think it would have been hard to leave?)

Did you know the prophet and apostles in our day are also "Fishers of Men." Like the disciples in Jesus's time that left their nets and followed him they follow Jesus Christ and help spread his message.

I like this quote from Elder Scott D. Whiting  Talk found here. (If you have teens I think the beginning of this talk would be really good to use.)
"I have thought of this example many times as I have considered that those who stand at the head of the Church have responded with similar faith to the invitation to “follow me.” Like the ancient Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is led by prophets and apostles, who have forsaken their nets and their hard-earned professions and have developed new skills in order to serve and follow the Master."

Fishing Game. You can use this game however you want.  I included all 15 but you can use just a few or all them.   Print and cut out the fish and names.  You will want to put these in order so they will correspond with the power point slides.  Open up the power point.  For each turn show the number slide (1-15) then the next slide with just the picture. (Ask does anyone know who this is?)  Have someone fish for the number you just showed. Once the fish is caught read the name on the back (you can show the next slide).  Then pull up the next one and read a few fun facts about the prophet or apostle you just picked.  Work your way through the 15.

Additional info to make the game: Print (card stock works best) and Cut out the fish.  On the back glue/tape either the names or the pictures (also included in the download). Slide a paper clip on each fish (a magnet works too).  For the pole I like to use a wooden dowel, tie yarn to the end and glue 2 button magnets to the end on the yarn.

If you do not have or want to use power point I have included all of the bio cards in the pdf with the fishing game.  Print or share on your computer.  If you are using power point you do not need to print these (save some ink!).

All pictures and information came from lds.org

Ask How can we prepare for General Conference?

Finish with this video.  This is a short clip of some of the apostles and the prophet bearing testimony of the Savior.  Its my favorite.  I think its so important for my children not to just read the words of the prophet but to actually hear and see the prophet speak.  What better message then one of the Savior.

The link doesn't work but how cute would this be for a treat. (pretzels, licorice, and gold fish)

Adorable fish clip art from here.
