Free Valentine Counting Clip Cards

I have a cute freebie for your little ones today!  These clip cards are a fun way to practice counting and number recognition.  They will count the number of hearts and clip a clothespin on the correct number.  There are cards for numbers 0-10.  To prep print either on cardstock or laminate for durability.  Cut the cards apart.  Super quick and easy.  My preschoolers have been loving clip cards and hope your kids do too :)

Free Unicorn Bingo (Numbers 1-20)

Practice number recognition with this adorable unicorn bingo game!  We are working on numbers 1-20 and this game is so fun your little one won't even mind playing over and over. My little one LOVED it!

Download the free bingo cards below (there are 10 different boards). There is also a set of calling cards (color and b&w option). I printed my boards 2 to a page but you can print them as a full sheet.  Laminate and cut bingo boards apart if needed and calling cards.

Place the calling cards in a bowl or bag.  We used "rainbow puffs" aka mini marshmallows as markers.

First person to get 4 in a row wins!

Make it a little harder and let your little one call out the numbers.  This will give you an idea of the numbers they recognize and the ones they need a little extra help with.  I think I heard a "fiveteen" in there :)

Candy Corn Number Puzzles (1-10)

Today I have a fun way to practice numbers.  These cute candy corn puzzles are quick to prepare and will be enjoyed by your preschooler.  Its also a great way to introduce 10 frames.  They will also work on their number recognition and one to one correspondents.  

Download and print the candy corns.  Laminate (optional) and cut along the dark lines.  Mix the pieces up and have your preschool find the 3 pieces for each puzzle.

Ideas to teach the Number 2

Here are some fun ideas to teach the number 2.  I mentioned in the #1 post that I find it easier to teach numbers in a set like 1-5 then add numbers up to 10.  You'll find lots of those activities in our preschool letter/theme posts.  This is more about recognizing what the individual numbers looks like and its value. I'm going to try and add activities specific to the number in the post but many can easily be adapted to any number. Here are some fun ideas I thought of and found for the number 2.

The number poster I created for our preschool board.  It was visible all week. Every poster comes in color or black and white.  Save on some ink and color yourself or use it as an adorable coloring page for your kids.

Two Color Paper Chains: Make a paper chain by rotating two colors. For example, red, blue, red, blue.

Noah’s ark: This would be a great time to share the story of Noah’s Ark, emphasizing how the animals marched two by two.

-Some additional ideas to go with this theme: pull out the stuffed animals (or stickers, figurines, etc.) and find a match.  Line them up two by two. 

-Animal crackers for snack and line them up two by two.

-I love this adorable preschool pack found here.  She has a lot of cute pages that you can use to count to the number two.  I liked this one below.

Another fun theme would be pointing out all of the body parts that we have two of...ears, eyes, arms, etc.  Have the kids draw a self portrait.

Teaching the Number 1

I really think it is difficult to teach numbers individually it just seems more natural for me to teach 1-5 or up to 10.  My little preschool group decided that we should teach each number individually and I do think there are some benefits to doing it this way.  For example most of them can count to 20 but they don't recognize the numbers when they see them.  This week I taught the number 1.  Here are a few ideas.

We wrote the number 1 in the air, on the white board and used the following tracer page for extra practice.

We used our Dot Marker for this fun I spy activity found here

We did the Hokey Pokey but changed it up by "putting one arm in" or  "1 leg in."   This was a big hit. 

Turn on some music and hit 1 balloon in the air.

Another idea I had but we didn't get to was to use this number one template and let the kids paint it with one finger
