Kid's Craft: Love Wreath

Here's a project we made a few years ago.  It was on my preschool blog that I don't use any more and decided to move some of my favorite here so they are easier to find.  This is a favorite and plan to make a new one (with a few changes) this year.

Yesterday Aubrey made this cute wreath full of people she loves and love her. It was really simple and a fun project. The night before she told me several people she loved. I found pictures on our computer and copied them into a word document. I then used the shape option to make them into hearts and sized them to 2". I printed them on card stock and cut them out. I also cut the center of a paper plate out. Aubrey colored the plate (hard to see in the picture-she used yellow). I then gave her glue, her hearts, and buttons and let her put them where ever she wanted. Once it was dry I added a ribbon to hang.

Here's another fun kids Christmas craft. This one was also shared on our preschool blog years ago.

I saw this fun idea on A mommy's adventure. It was a lot of fun and they are adorable. I poured a little paint on the top of the paper plate. I was going to have them use their hands but they insisted on brushes. We cut and glued on eyes and antlers. We used a pom pom for the nose and Aubrey drew on a mouth. I was doing this by memory and I wish I had remembered the hand print antlers-that would have made them extra cute.

Olivia's-Painted all by herself. Mommy helped with the face.

Aubrey's- Painted, drew the mouth, and glued all by herself. Mommy helped with the cutting. We haven't painted in a while and I was so surprised how well she did. She really is improving so much (with everything).

P.S. the brown paint kind of looks like pudding so watch your little one close. Livy tried to eat it a few time-that's why we kept the Binky. Pudding would be fun to make these with.

Handprint reindeer

Today I have a fun Christmas Craft for you to do with your kids.  Its actually from several years ago and was originally posted on my preschool blog. I thought it would be fun to share some of our favorites from time to time.  So this week I'll be sharing some fun Christmas Crafts.  The cute girls in the pictures are now 8 and 11 but luckily still have two little ones that will enjoy these.

Our cute little reindeer. Livy's is green and Aubrey's is red. I think these are my favorite Christmas craft we've made so far. They are just adorable.Painting hands Aubrey took this picture of me painting Livy's foot.

Its pretty fun and easy.  Start with painting the foot and stamp it towards the bottom of the page (toes down).  Then paint each hand and stamp them in a v shape at the heel of the foot.  Let it dry.  Cut around your "reindeer."  Then add face and button or pom pom for nose.

Painting with Water

Here's a fun way to beat the summer heat.  We grabbed some paint brushes, a cup of water, and headed outside.  Dip the brush in water and start painting. 

 My kids' favorite thing was to try and paint their name before it started to disappear.  (It was over 100 degrees so they had to work fast).

Crafting with Olivia: Princess crown and wand

 This is the first addition of Crafting with Olivia and hope to have my cute crafty little girl pop in again soon!  Olivia is 6 years old and Loves, loves, Loves to join me in the craft room.  She likes all things sparkly and pretty.  She likes to work with mama

Today Olivia is going to teach you how to make a princess crown and wand.

You will need: paper, pencil, pins, felt, stick (dowel), headband, wedding stuff (tulle), hot glue gun, and pretty stuff to decorate with.

First you need to draw a star.  Have your mommy pin it to felt.  .

 

Then cut out the star.  You need two one for the front and one for the back

 Also cut out a crown.

 Decorate your star and crown.  I used stickers, flowers, and jewels.  My mom used hot glue to stick them on.  Tie your wedding stuff (tulle) to your headband.  I put some on my wand too.  Glue your crown to the top of your headband.  Glue your stars together with a stick in the middle. 

We are now done!  Its time to dress up!
