Free Woodland Animal Prints

I'm so excited to share these new woodland prints with you!  If you've been here for a while or maybe coming from my old prints you may know that I use to have a huge set of woodland printables but recently found out I can no longer share them for free.  I was so sad but decided to use this oportunity to create some new prints for you!   I have to say I absolutely LOVE these new ones and hope you do too.  This amazing clip art comes from Prettygrafik design and ClipArtisan.

Each animal comes in two different background options the dark wood or the rustic blue.  Click on the link below the picture to take you to the correct color option.  Save to your computer and print from home or your favorite print shop. All are sized as 8x10s.  Enjoy!

*These are for personal use only please.*

How to Make a Rustic USA Wood Sign

I love anything red, white, and blue and with the 4th of July just a week away I needed some decor.  I love the rustic charm of this sign and it's something that can actually be displayed year round.

I used my scroll saw to cut out the USA silhouette but if you do not have access to one don't worry you can use paint, vinyl, or some scrapbook paper (how gorgeous would floral be!).  It won't have the same look but it will still be pretty darn amazing.

*I'm going to share how to make the USA part with a scroll saw but if you are going with another method adjust to your needs.*

Supply list:
plywood -for map cutout
wood cut to size for your sign
1x2s for frame
paint
stain (optional)
painters tape
miter saw for frame
scroll saw for map cutout
nail gun and nails for frame
wood glue

To get started I googled USA silhouette.  Go with a basic one especially if you are going to be cutting it out with a saw.  Copy and paste in a word document and size to fit your project.  Print and trace on your board.  I used thin plywood for this part.  I used carbon copy paper to transfer image to wood.

With a scroll saw carefully cut along the lines.  Paint blue.

Now for the sign.  Paint your entire board white and let it dry.  Use painters tape to tape off your stripes.  Remember under the tape will be white you are leaving the red area exposed right now.
Paint red.  I used my cute little helper.
Once it's dry pull the tape off and it will look something like this.  Next I sanded the entire board to give it a distressed look.
To give it more of an old look I rubbed a little stain over the paint and wiped it off immediately.  I did this on the stripes and the blue.

I forgot to take pictures to build the frame but its pretty easy I promise.  You are going to use 1x2s (small side showing).  Measure the length of the top and bottom of your frame.  Mark and cut boards.  Put in place.  Then measure from the top of your frame to the bottom of your frame to come up with the side length (see picture below).  Mark and cut.  Stain or paint for boards.  Once they are dry use a nail gun to attach directly to your sign.

Use wood glue to attach your USA cutout and let it dry.

Free Woodland Animal Prints

Update 11/13/17:
Hey guys I know you came here to find these adorable free printables.  I'm so sad to say I just found out I can no longer offer them as a freebie on my blog.  However, as sad I was to discover this I decided to turn it into a positive and I'm working on some new Woodland Prints that will of course be available for free!  I found some amazing graphics and I've been having so much fun creating this new set.  I'll update this post when they are available...hopefully some time this week!  Thanks for stopping by and check back soon!!!

Update 7/25/18: These prints are now available for a super low price in my etsy shop.  I wish I could offer them as freebies again but due to the terms of the graphics I purchased and used I can't.  I had no intention of selling these but I've had so many requests for these I hope its a good compromise.  There are 6 different colors to choose from.  I still have some really cute free ones below.

Hanging Map (or any printable) Tutorial

I have a really cute, quick, and fun project for you today.  If you didn't have to wait for the paint to dry it would take about 5 minutes.  My favorite thing about this is how versatile it is.  You can use this for any anything...printables, photos, or an awesome map like mine.

Just a quick note...The right edge came unglued as I dragged it to 4 different rooms to try and get a decent picture.  This thing is huge and my camera was not loving the colors so I do apologize for the pictures.  It looks so amazing in person.  I didn't notice the edge bends in until I saw the pictures. It was super easy to fix but I wanted to wait until it was back in place.  Prior to this it has been hanging perfectly and smooth in my little guys room for over a week without any problems.  (I just wanted to let you know so you wouldn't be worried that your print will look bent)

If you want a map you can find some great ones on Amazon or etsy.  I used this print.

The cost of this will really depend on your print you choose and the cost to print it.  So if you use a free printable and can print it at home then its super cheap.  I purchased my print for $9 and then printed it through vista print (posters).  It was less then $20 to shipped and is 22"x28". It was the best option to fit the sizing of my print.  I've had success with them in the past (I'll be sharing one of those projects soon) and this time it turned out well, I would have liked it a little more crisp...not sure if it was the image or the print.  For large prints you can also try places like shutterfly (with a coupon) or even staples engineer prints (super cheap.  I haven't tried them yet but it sounds like people love them).

So Here's what you need:
(some affiliate links included)
Print
1x2x8 (also called a furring strip)  you can find these for around $1
paint or stain (I used this one)
hot glue gun and glue
painters tape (option but helpful)

To start you are going to lay your boards across your print.

Measure about 1 to 1 1/2 inches longer then your print and mark.  Do this for the top and bottom.
I for got to take a picture of the next step but you are going to cut your wood, sand, and stain/paint.

Once its dry add a little hot glue and attach your twine.  Start wrapping.  You want to keep this pretty close to the edge.
I went around about 6 times.  Secure with a little glue in the back.
Unravel enough to go across your board plus about 2 inches.  (It doesn't seem like much but I wouldn't go much longer)
Add your glue to secure the other side and start wrapping again.  Secure and cut.
I used painters tape to originally secure my print.  This was just to help keep it from slipping.  Add hot glue across your wood or your print and attach.  If you use the tape you can do this with the print facing up, flip your board up and add the glue...super easy.
You are now ready to hang.

How to take your Printables to the next level

Its no secret I LOVE printables!  I use them all over my house and especially love to switch them out for the holidays.  They are a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to switch up your decor.  I love adding them to cute frames or clipboards but today I'm going to show you an easy way to to turn them into a piece of art for your home.  Oh and the best thing is it can be temporary or permanent!

How cute are these!
You just need wood, stain or paint, your favorite printable, and a glue stick.

My printables were cut down to an  8"x10" and printed on cardstock.  I used a 12"x8"x1" board.  The Length doesn't matter (the 8").  The 12 inches wide is the important part oh and guess what they are not actually 12 inches!  Mine is about 11 1/4 inches.   I cut my boards every 9 inches so my final measurement is 11 1/4 x 9 inches.  This will give you about a 1/2 inch edge all around.
Next I stained the sides and around the edges.  I used Jacobean by minwax.  Its my favorite color.
Then I used a glue stick (just a regular glue stick) and stuck it on my board.  It will hold up well for quite a while.  I've had mine for several months and I'm just now reglueing some of the edges that came loose.  This is perfect for seasonal decor or if you don't want anything permanent.  You can also use a spray adhesive and it will be more permanent.
