It's time for another Come Follow Me lesson. I'd love to know what you are doing with your family. I love all of the ways you are making these lessons fit your family and primary class. This week there are a few different topics that I wanted to include. You can find this weeks lesson here and the primary lesson here. I use both of these manuals to plan my lessons.
Jesus Calls the 12: As I was reading through the primary lesson one of the activities suggested was to place pictures of the current apostles around the room and share a few facts about them. We did a FHE like this to prepare for General Conference last year except we went fishing.
You can find the activity here. There are pictures and facts all ready to go. There is a link to a video of some of the apostles bearing their testimony of the Savior. It's one of my favorites.
Update: I just found this link from the friend. There are videos for each apostle.
This post has a ton of ideas on this topic. Some of them even go with the suggestions from the primary manual. I love the 2 coloring page options in this post.
This lesson contains two of my favorite scripture passages Matthew 11:28-30 and Luke 7:36–50. I included 2 printables that I thought went well with these scriptures.
Or if you want to print just the quote you can right click on the images below and save to your computer. Print from your favorite print shop or your home computer. It is also included in the download.
Coloring page that goes with Matthew 11:28-30. There is space to draw a picture or write about a time Jesus has helped you.
Here's a fun activity to show how Jesus can help make our burdens light. You'll need some cans and a backpack or bag. You can also print the labels to wrap around your cans.
The labels include different things that can weight us down. I also included blank ones so you can add your own or just add more cans as you talk about different demands of life. (homework, job, etc.) I printed on colored paper and taped them to the cans. You may need to trim if you are using smaller cans.
Start placing the cans in to the bag one at a time. Discuss some examples for each one (use the ones that fit your family). Make sure your bag ends up pretty heavy.
Luke 7:36–50. This would be a great time to talk about being forgiven of sins.
here's a fun idea we used a few lessons ago.
I think we are going to use the idea from Little LDS Ideas that involves chocolate syrup! Its a fun object lesson uses a helpers clean hands, chocolate syrup that represents sin, and soap and water for repentance. You can find the details in her post. I think my kids will love it.
Thanks so much for this! I love using these every week. I can't figure out why the link from The Friend is missing 5 of the apostles, though.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good question. I wonder if they will be adding the rest. If you need facts on each of them check the fishing game link-I have a few facts on all of them :)
