Come Follow Me: Introductory Pages of the Book of Mormon

I'll be republishing the original Book of Mormon Lesson Helps to the top of my blog for convenience. If I add additional activities or updates I'll let you know at the top of the post. I hope to do this for many of them as I go through the new manual and now that my kids are a little older :) I know I have several weeks I did not do 4 years ago-2020 was tough to get to everything. I'll be going through and adding those missing weeks as well. If you have any requests for activities please let me know! Thanks for joining me as we study the Book of Mormon this year!

NEW ACTIVITIES! (Posted December 31, 2023)
I have two new activities for this week and I am so excited about them! The first is a coloring page. It's such a sweet reminder that the Book of Mormon teaches about Christ. If you have older children they can also write around the image some things they know and love about Jesus Christ.  The second activity goes along with a story Elder Renlend shares about President Nelson's experience sharing the Book of Mormon with a King! I his talk Elder Renlend says there is no greater gift as he talks about the Book of Mormon. There are two options that help you create a gift full of words from President Nelson. These come from Elder Renlend's talk as well as an article in the January 2024 Friend (There is a really cute coloring page in the Friend that goes along with his talk). I must confess I have not tested out these gift boxes yet-I just finished creating them and wanted to get them to you as soon as possible-so if there is a mistake please forgive me and let me know so I can fix it. You can download the free Come Follow Me lesson helps below and keep scrolling because there are tons of ideas from 4 years ago that are some of my favorites.

I am also so excited to study the Book of Mormon this year.  Thank you for sending me suggestions and requests for this year and please don't hesitate to let me know what you need.  I will do my best to include them.  I love the New Year.  I mentioned last week that it really motivates me to change and improve and one of those improvements is to get these lesson helps to you by Friday again.  Please forgive me if I don't make this deadline :)  This week we are covering the introduction pages of the Book of Mormon.  (You can find the Come Follow Me lesson here.)  This week I have some really fun lesson helps for you.  These are great for families and primary classes.  As as always you can find all of the printables FREE in the download at the end of this post.

This week we are going to start with a mini workout.  Do jumping jacks, run in place, push up, etc.  You can use the exercise dice in the download-roll and do 10 of the exercise you land on.  Repeat.

Once everyone is tired, rest and discuss some of your family or personal goals for the new year.

Explain that we often make goals to get our bodies in shape but there is something else we should strengthen-our testimonies. Share one the following quotes

(included in one of the links below)

or
(included in the download)

Discussion: How can we strengthen our testimonies of the Book of Mormon this year?  What goals can we set to accomplish this?  *If time read one or more of the testimonies located at the beginning of the Book of Mormon
*Goal trackers can be found here.

The Book of Mormon Teaches: Punch box or Seek and Find-Cut the hearts apart and hide them around the room OR if you are feeling ambitious create a punch box and place one in each cup.  I have not decided which one I am going to do.  The punch box is a lot of fun and goes great with the "getting in shape" theme but it does take some time to put together.  *All of these quotes come from this talk by President Nelson.

Additional ideas:
My Testimony:  Take a few minutes and write your testimony of the Book of Mormon.  Keep it in a safe place.  Over the year pull it out and read through it.  Look for ways it has changed or grown.  Have you noticed any blessings from reading the Book of Mormon.

Videos: There is an animated video in the Primary manual that goes along with Joseph Smith's testimony. or a live version options here or here.  or starting at minute 10 to 12 of the full length movie.  This is such a wonderful movie we watched it a couple month ago and may watch it again this week.  I also found it free on Amazon prime.

We did this FHE a couple years ago and I thought it would be a great fit.  You can find the details here and the printable above.

This Book of Mormon match game would be a fun game to play this week.  You can find it here

Book of Mormon Reading Trackers I found a while ago: Scripture Reading chart-cute ones here and here

That's all for this week.  If you have any questions or trouble with the download please let me know :)

*I will be starting a New list with all of the Come Follow Me lessons like I did last year.  I need to do a few behind the scene things first  and should have that up for you by the end of the week!

December Holiday Calendar 2023

Do you remember long ago when I would make these fun holiday calendars? I decided its something I want to bring back after a long break. I mean how cute are these?!? My kids love them and started asking me to make them again so here we are. I hope these are something your family will love as well.
I had this done a week ago and just remembered I forgot to post it! I'm hoping to get back into the swing of posting more consistently again. I've kind of missed this place. You can find the link to download this calendar below-there won't be a giant watermark and its easy to print. Let me know if you have any trouble.
I like to print a copy and hang it on the fridge. We pick and choose some holidays to celebrate but we also think its fun to look at it each day :) I like to keep it simple and managable but I'd love to hear your ideas or see your picture! (Tag me on Instagram, facebook, or let me know it the comments!)
I hope you and your family have a wonderful December and I'll talk to you soon!

Hebrews 1-6 Come Follow Me Activity

Hello everyone, I have had a very busy week and didn't have a chance to create any lesson helps for Hebrews 1-6.  However, my 10 year old is teaching part of her class tomorrow and created a fun activity to share.  I thought it might be helpful and I'm posting it really quick. She filled 5 brown paper bags with different items that are either hard or soft (she included her list for you :). She is going to have the class take turns feeling the item and guessing what it is. Then she made two posters with hearts. The blank one she drew a sad face. Then she is giving the class sticky notes where they will write ways they their hearts can become hard or ways they can soften their heart. The sticky notes will be placed on the correct heart. I hope this helps and plan to keep working my way through the missing lessons. Have a great week!

Come Follow Me: 1 & 2 Thessalonians

UPDATE: (10/16/2023)
I just added some additional activities for this week's Come Follow Me lesson to help you teach 1 & 2 Thessalonians. I hope you find something that works for you.

*(scoll to the bottom for a bonus file-cute idea came from a reader)

Below is my previous post from 4 years ago. I debated if I should delete it with this update but ultimatley decided to leave it. So much of it still rings true and I still need the remider of this message. I'm a work in progress and will continue to be :) For those that were here for the first time, thank you for sticking with me and my imperfect ways. And thank you new and old for taking a few minutes of your day to stop by.

Thank you all for you kind words last week.  It was an unintended break but much needed :)  I need to be honest with all of you.  These last few months I have been struggling a lot with stress and trying to keep up with everything.  I have 5 young and busy kids, teach preschool a couple times a week, and try to keep up with this blog (not to mention all of the other household and church responsibilities).  I'm telling you this because something needed to change.  I had been praying for help and my answer came during General Conference. I need to simplify, even though many things are good I need to focus more on what is better or best and finally President Nelson's talk "examine your life meticulously and regularly. As you do so, the Holy Ghost will prompt you about what is no longer needful, what is no longer worthy of your time and energy...As you shift your focus away from worldly distractions, some things that seem important to you now will recede in priority. You will need to say no to some things, even though they may seem harmless. As you embark upon and continue this lifelong process of consecrating your life to the Lord, the changes in your perspective, feelings, and spiritual strength will amaze you!"  Since then I have been making many changes and shifting my priorities.  One of the big things that I have decided to adjust is the way I will be sharing my Come Follow Me activities.  While I do believe sharing is so good (and I love it so much) it is taking a lot of time away from things that are better for me and my family.  Don't worry I am not going away :)  I will still be sharing each week but in a much different way.  Instead of trying to cover everything and provide a ton of options I will now be offering one option. It will be more of an FHE post that can certainly be adapted for primary as well.  I'll be using the primary manual to pick the topic.  I think this will help my own children be more prepared for their Sunday lessons and help out our primary teachers that stop by.  I was just released from primary and know that it can be hard to teach many of these lessons so I will make sure it is something you can use as well.  I was called to nursery (yeah!) so I may be sharing some of my lesson ideas for the tiny ones :) So if you have nursery age kids or teach watch for that. One thing I really love about Come Follow Me is that it is open for us to pick the topic that works be for our family or class.  There is not a set topic or guide.  So the topic I pick may not be one you need.  If this is the case use the search bar on my blog.  I have been sharing for over a year now and there is a good chance there is an activity on one of the topics you need.  I know that was a lot and a big change and I hope these post will still help you and your family or class.  I appreciate all of you so much for stopping by each week and I'm excited for this change.

That's all for this week.  Thank you for understanding the need for change and for stopping by.  If you have any questions for trouble with the download please let me know.

Edit: I had someone ask for printable items to put in the suitcase.  She is going to hide them around the room and have her kids share a way they can prepare for the second coming when they add it to the suitcase.  I thought that was so cute and that some of you may want a copy as well.  You can get those here.  It includes some clothing items and things like shampoo :)

Philippians & Colossians Come Follow Me Activities

I have some fun activities for you to use at home or in primary to go along with this week's Come Follow Me lesson. We are reading Philippians and Colossians. There are several activities that follow along with the primary manual. It's been a while since I've created these lesson helps and I'm a bit rusty so please let me know if you have any questions. I've missed all of you and I mentioned on Facebook that my youngest just went off to kindergarten this year and I'm hoping to spend some more time creating for you and be more present on social media. I'm excited for this new season and please let me know how I can help!

You can find all of the activities and instructions in the download below!
